SSF generates 1,845 jobs-A A +A

A TOTAL of 1,845 jobs were generated in 2013 through the shared service facilities (SSFs) of the Department of Trade and Industry in Davao Region (DTI 11).
In the Annual Accomplishment Report of DTI 11 for 2013, the agency's flagship project established 34 SSFs in Davao Region worth P9.27 million.
Among the approved projects under SSF were post-processing facilities for coco coir, coco sugar, virgin coconut oil, and coco beads.
Also enrolled were the facilities for processing bananas, handicrafts production, garment, and organic fertilizers, among others.
The facility on enhancement of organic fertilizer generated the most jobs with 500. The facility for cocolife VCO production came second highest with 165 jobs generated, followed by enhanced banana processing that generated 150 jobs.
In all, there are 930 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who use the 34 established SSFs, which were among the 51 SSFs approved by the agency last year worth P23.99 million.
In a press release, that these projects are spread out throughout the region wherein 13 are in Davao del Norte; 12 in Davao Oriental; 11 in Davao City; nine in Davao del Sur; and six in Compostela Valley.
The SSF is a major component of the agency's Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) Development Program and it is aimed at "improving the competitiveness of MSMEs by providing them with machinery, equipment, tools, skills, and knowledge under a shared system."
"We hope that we can help more MSMEs improve, not just their productivity but also the quality of their products," DTI-Davao Region Officer-in-Charge Ma. Belenda Q. Ambi said in a statement.
