American chamber sets investors' forum here-A A +A

THE American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (Amcham) Davao Chapter will spearhead the first Southern Mindanao Growth Corridor (SMGC) Investors Forum on September 19, 2014 at the Marco Polo Hotel.
The event will be jointly hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP) and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Mindanao (JCCM).
"The event is envisioned as an annual assembly of business people and policy makers with a common interest in exploiting the potential of Southern Mindanao by estalishing the SMGC, particularly in light of the opportunities presented by Asean integration," said Philip Dizon, Amcham Davao president, un yesterday's edition of Davao Press Club's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao Annex.
He said they are expecting investors in the fields of finance, infrastructure and property development, power and utilities, agriculture, manufacturing, and business process outsourcing to attend the event.
Dizon said one of the highlights of the event will be the business matching between investors and local busibnessmen.
"The forum will involve the introduction of potential investors to resoources and partners required to bring investments to fruition," he said.
Dizon said representatives from the Board of Investments and other local government agencies will also be present to assist investors by "providing relevant information on incentives and special investment programs."
Martial Beck, ECCP vice president and general manager, said the event will help boost Mindanao's image as a prime invesment hub un the country.
He said the island has been misunderstood as being a warn-torn area and a risky area for investments but with the event, it will feature the strong opportunities and investment potentials in Mindanao.
"We need to send a ppositive image of Mindanao to realize its full potentials," said Kesuke Nakao, JCCM president.
Beck also said the event will help improve the competitiveness of the local businesses.
