CLIMATE change IS prime focus of the series of trainings and seminars in the first-ever Davao Agriculture and Livestock Expo on-going until Sunday at SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Premier.
The three-day expo, which opened Friday, is organized by Mandaluyong-based CMB Events Management (CEM) and is supported by the Department of Agriculture and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII).
CEM project manager Cel Maliwat, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said they decided to give focus on the issue because of the recent events that happened relating to climate change.
She said the trainings and seminars will update farmers on the latest information pertaining to climate change that will help them prevent or mitigate its impact to their products.
Seminars that were conducted Friday included: "Use of Cutting Edge Mapping technologies for Mitigation of Climate Change Effects" by Engr. Epifanio D. Lopez; "Bringing GIS to Life" by Engr. Johna Bernabe; "Clod Technology" by Steven Ang of Hewlett Packard; and "Bentley Software Application" by Engr. Peter Wong.
Seminars and product presentations that will be conducted today, Saturday, include: B-Meg's "Hog Raising Seminar" by Dr. Eugene Mende; Cargill Philippines' "Early Nutrition for Aqua" by Gina Barillo; Natures Glory Industries' "Nature Bio Probiotic Livestock Program" by Vic Cabral; and Enviro Cropvet Production's "Animal Nutrition" by Jiggs Espadilla.
In the three-day event, some 70 exhibitors will also be displaying the latest technology and innovations in agriculture geared toward increasing production and income and climate change resiliency.
"We are expecting to be able to generate around P100 million in sales during the expo," Maliwat said earlier in an emailed statement on Thursday.
The event is sponsored by B-Meg, Jiabao Feed Vet Agro Products, Bowa Agricultural Equipment, and Julu Enterprises Inc.
