DCCCII ties up with Tesda for dev't programs-A A +A

THE Davao City of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (DCCCII) forged a partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) 11 to develop a demand-driven or industry-led training and skills programs.
In a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing last week, the industry-led certificate and assessment program will be jointly implemented by Tesda and DCCCII through the Small Business Development Center of DCCCII.
The chamber will be assigning a staff to be trained to assist in the program.
The MOA was signed by DCCCII president Antonio T. dela Cruz and Tesda 11 regional director Dr. Gaspar S. Gayona on June 27, 2014 during the DCCCII General Membership Meeting at the Seda Abreeza Hotel.
The development of a demand-driven or industry-led training and skills training is a component of the Phase 2 of Philippines Australian Quality Technical Vocational Education and Training (PAQTVET II).
Tesda has identified DCCCII as its industry working group partner in Davao region for assessing the agribusiness, information communications and technology (ICT), construction, tourism, processed food, health services, and other sectors.
Accroding to the MOA, Tesda will encourage DCCCII-Tesda partnership that would lead to technical and vocational education and training (TVET)-enabled industry arrangements and provide technical capability building assistance and other support mechanism to DCCCII and its members and affiliates as may be deemed necessary for mutually beneficial interests of both parties.
The DCCCII in partnership with Tesda will provide assistance and information to Tesda in the identification of industry skill priorities and training needs; lead in the development and periodic review of national sectoral skills plans; develop, review, improve, and promote competency standards qualification, curriculum exemplans and assessment guides in coordination with Tesda; participate in such other TVET programs as may be deemed necessary within its capabilities; and endorse or nominate would-be assessors in the indentified industries or sectors.
