BOI-Davao registers P14.7-B investments

A TOTAL of 13 new investments worth P14.7 billion were registered under the Bureau of Investments (BOI)-Davao Extension Office from January to June this year.

Based on the data released by BOI-Davao, of the 13 investments, Davao City and Davao del Sur get three each, two in Davao del Norte, and one each for Davao Oriental, Agusan del Norte, Surigao City, North Cotabato, and South Cotabato.

Investment areas include transportation and storage, real estate, agriculture, electricity, manufacturing, food processing, renewable energy, and tourist accommodation facility, generating at least 1,770 jobs.

For the city, Steward Home Development Corporation poured in P656.14 million for a real estate project; P157.31 million for another real estate project by Kim Guan Realty Development Corporation; and P353.76 million investment on the operation of a district cooling system of the Philippine Integrated Energy Solutions Inc.

Davao del Sur investments are mainly agricultural based, which include a P347.01 million production of export quality Cavendish Banana of Anflo Banana Corporation in Don Marcelino; a P392.15 million manufacturing of coco water concentrate for export of Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines in Sta. Cruz; and the P124.95 million coconut water concentrate production for export of Coco Davao Inc., also in Sta. Cruz.

Investments in Davao del Norte include a P2.65 billion investment of San Vicente Terminal and Brokerage Services, Inc. in Panabo City and a P5.72 billion investment of Hijo International Port Services, Inc. in Tagum City.

Other investments are: the P3.65 billion 25 megawatt Lake Mainit hydroelectric power plant of the Agusan Power Corporation in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte; a P554.526 million investment of the NV Vogt Solar Energy One Inc., a renewable energy developer of solar energy resources, in Surallah, South Cotabato; a P7 million investment of the See's International Food Manufacturing Corp. for the production of banana chips for export in Mati City, Davao Oriental; Treelife Coco Sugar's P17.79 million investment for the production of coco sugar in Carmen, North Cotabato; and Clybros Merchandising Inc.'s P25 million investment for the establishment of a tourist accommodation facility at Surigao City.
