ORGANIC and chemical-free is how owner and marketing-in-charge Lucky Mae T. Braza, 22, describes Hiyang.

Hiyang is a local brand that prides itself in utilizing only natural and nontoxic ingredients for its soap products.

"People always say that they want a product that is 'hiyang' for them. So we chose the word 'Hiyang' as the product name to easily catch their attention and assure them na talagang hiyang din ito sa kanila," Braza said.

Braza, a radio personality, works with her real-life partner Jake Pajarillaga, who is also a radio personality, in the production Hiyang beauty products.

The couple devotes their free hours in making soap at home and distributing it to clients. They spend their available time as wisely as possible.

"I work in the morning and I do meet-ups in the afternoon. Si Jake naman, he works every afternoon. Then, siya yung gumagawa ng sabon in the morning and during weekends. Division of works lang. Time is gold kaya sinusulit," Braza said.

A 135-gram Hiyang soap costs P65 only.

For those who want to resell their product, the couple offers it at P35 each for a minimum of 50 pieces and P25 each for 100 pieces.

They also sell 100ml Hiyang Lemon Papaya lotion for P120 only.

"We do our own soap, it is manually made. Unlike other soap sellers, they order their products from other entrepreneurs. Pero kami, we make our own soap and we can assure our clients that it is safe and clean. Plus its organic, made with real papaya. And since it is organic, it has no harsh chemicals and it is safe for pregnant women, babies and children," Braza said.

Papaya is a good source of vitamin A and papain. Vitamin A acts as an antioxidant, while papain breaks down inactive proteins and removes dead skin cells. Rich in antioxidants due to huge concentration of vitamin A and helpful in removing dead skin cells, papaya will exfoliate your skin in the most gentle and natural way.

It is also a great skin-firming and anti-aging mask. It helps remove blemishes and dark spots, evens out your skin tone, brings a glow to your face, and offers a natural facelift, along with creating a rejuvenating effect and natural glow. What is more surprising about this fruit is that it is suitable for almost every skin type.

"Originally, this business is kay Jake lang. We were sweethearts when he introduced his beauty soap to me. I tried it tapos maganda yung effect sa akin so I was encouraged na mag business kami together kasi nakita ko na positive din ang mga feedback ng mga buyers," Braza said.

The couple's capital was P1,500 only. They promote it on social networking sites like Facebook and Instagram.

"Two heads are better than one sabi pa nila. Especially paglalaki at babaeang mag partner, like sa amin, makakakuha kami ng kung ano ang gusto ng market both sa lalaki at babae," she said.

Hiyang is a Davao-based product, but it has reached Cagayan de Oro City and Mati City through retailers who also tried the soap.

Five years from now, Braza and Pajarillaga envision of having branches Mindanao-wide.

Presently, Hiyang is open to retailers, especially college students who want to have extra income while studying.

They can be reached at 0908-255-3849.

Hiyang is a living testament that natural beauty is best.
