Alphabet Salire, MDI operations executive for marketing and channels, said the event brought in the latest on technology and IT solutions from their partners, Juniper Networks and Dell.

"We want to help them (Davao-based businesses) achieve their business goals by offering to them the latest solutions and technology," Salire said.

"We are re-introducing [some of the products], how these can help the businesses, particularly the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as to how it can help them expand and make it less complex for them to manage their network," said Noel C. Victoria, MDI product manager.

He said for Juniper Networks, they are introducing the updated versions of the EX series, a product line for network switches, and SRX Series, a security solutions product.

Victoria said what makes the EX series standout from other switch products is that it has a network director that would help the company manage their network devices easily.

"The SRX product line, offers full security solutions for your network. In terms of efficacy, if you look at how it manages or block potential malware or harmful components coming into your network, this one has a high percentage of blocking anything harmful coming into your network," he said.

Victoria said with more people bringing their own devices, like tablets and laptops, it is important to have a strong security solution in protecting a company's network from harmful things.

As for Dell, they are reintroducing two of their latest computers: the Optiplex desktop computers and the Vostro laptops.

Raymond Lim, Dell Philippines business development manager for Visayas and Mindanao, said the Optiplex product line are being positioned for corporations and businesses while the Vostro product line is being positioned for the academe and those who are price conscious.

The Tech Focus Series gathered some 30 to 40 participants coming from IT divisions of different companies in different industries like banking, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing, among others.
