CLOSE to 300 participants had already registered for the 4TH Davao Investment Conference (Icon) at the SMX Convention Center on July 21 to 22, 2017.
According to 2017 Icon Chairman Arturo M. Milan, included in the 300 registered participants are around 60 foreign delegates.
“We expect the surge of registration this last week of the conference. Preparation is doing well as planned. We expect more to register especially foreign delegates as we approach the last week before the conference,” said Milan.
This year’s Icon is geared towards highlight of investment opportunities in the region particularly in the areas of infrastructure and connectivity, tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture.
Among the foreign delegates is British Chamber of Commerce Philippines President Chris Nelson.
Business executives of both national and local companies are also coming such as 8990 Housing Development Corporation President and CEO Januario Jesus Gregorio Atencio, Phoenix Petroleum President and CEO Dennis Uy, Lafarge Holcim Philippines, Inc. Country Chief Operating Officer Sapna Sood, Nakashin Davao International Inc. President Keisuke Nakao, Marco Polo Hotel Davao General Manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandez, and Union Galvasteel Corporation President and CEO Eduardo Sahagun.
Home-grown Davao business such as Eden Nature Park and Resort, Malagos Chocolate, and Anflocor Group of Companies will be represented by their executives -- president Zaldy Magnaye, founder Charita Puentespina, and president Anthony Alexander Valoria, respectively.
Government officials will also grace the event such as Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Trade and Industry secretary Ramon Lopez, Transportation secretary Arthur Tugade, finance secretary Carlos Dominguez III, and Tourism secretary Wanda Corazon Teo.
