3K youth, MSMEs expected in Asean biz gab

A TOTAL of 3,000 youth and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are expected to attend the Asean on Stage Business Conference on September 30 at the Philippine Women's College wherein they are to be introduced to the business opportunities in the country for the existing small business and business ideas with the Asean integration.

Target delegates are students, out-of-school youth, would-be entrepreneurs, SMEs, Start-up entrepreneurs, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) or their families, OFW cooperatives, and business industry players.

According to Promotions Head Kerby Arafol, as the younger generation is believed to be the future of the nation as well as their innovative ideas, the millennials are the priority of this conference.

"Our target for this conference are the millennials. What we think they need most is the exposure to the field (of business). The conference will serve as the starting point to promote their ideas wherein the experts in the industry will be there as well. It's a confidence-building measure on their part. If they want to be an entrepreneur, it's a good avenue for exposure to them to sharpen their experience in the field," Arafol said.

The entire discussions in the conference will revolve on the theme "Shaping new millennials to become globally competitive in seizing the billion dollar Asean market opportunity."

The conference targets to showcase opportunities for MSMEs regarding Asean single market access. It also targets to develop more social entrepreneurs, motivate millennials to be entrepreneurs, and to discuss the latest trends and technology in the Asean region that are worth investing in for the Asean market.

Topics of discussion include the "How to Tap the Billion Dollar Market in the Asean?" to be delivered by DTI Export Management Bureau Director Senen Perlada.

Competitive and Effective Marketing Strategies for the Millennials inn the Asean Market will be discussed by Philipine Marketing Association president Arlene Padua, as well as the ways to be digitally competitive in the Asean region to be discussed by a representative from Infinity Hub. Mynd Consulting Founder and Chief Executive Officer Myrna Padilla will talk about the specific information and communications technology development with the Asean integration and how the businesses can use this to their advantage.

Other guests include Chiaka Ozawa, Chuchi Fonacier of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and Gina Lopez.

Asean on Stage Business Conference is a joint effort of TDC Prestige, Department of Tradae and Industry-Davao Region, and PWC BA Society.
