HOMEGROWN real estate developer, Damosa Land, Inc. (DLI), is targetting to start the development of Bridgeport, its new mixed-use development project in Samal Island, this year.

Ricardo Lagdameo, DLI vice president, told reporters during a press briefing Thursday at Damosa Seawind, its first vertical residential development that they are hoping to ground break the project by the summer of this year.

Sitting on a 12-hectare property in Caliclic, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal, the seaside leisure township project will feature medium-rise condominiums, a marina, premium lots, a hotel, and a commercial component.

"It is not just a resort or condominium project in Samal Island. It is going to be a masterplan mixed-use community," Lagdameo said.

For her part, Pauline Anne Ferrero of DLI said they are envisioning the development to be a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of Davao City.

Ferrero said Bridgeport will have four condominiums and will have two phases. The 1st phase will be located at the upper portion of Bridgeport and the 2nd will be in the lower portion. There will be around 300 units on one and two bedroom units.

The project will also have around 20 premium open lots at 400 square meters (sqm.) to 500 sqm.

As for the marina, Lagdameo said it will cater to 20 boats initially but they are eyeing to expand it to cater to 50 boats in the future.

For the commercial component, Fererro said they will prioritize local and homegrown companies. Lagdameo, for his part, said the commercial component will have restaurants.

"The vision for Bridgeport is to offer quality resort-living within close reach from the urban city of Davao. Damosa Land envisions a strong business, tourism, and leisure link between two cities across Pakiputan strait," DLI said in a statement.

The company added, "On one side there is a link to the main business enterprises, retail, and entertainment spots while on the other is a whole new different world of comfort, privacy, leisure, and luxury. Bridgeport Seaside Leisure Township brings its clients just that -- a link to both worlds, a cozy get-away within reach."
