Cayetano leads 2,800 participants in ‘Araw’ Run

NO LESS than reelectionist Senator Pia Cayetano will lead the cast among 2,800 participants seeing action in the Araw ng Dabaw Run 2010 that kicks off at 6 a.m. Sunday in an out-and-back course from Gaisano Mall of Davao.

Organizer Kenneth Sai bared this in an e-mailed statement to Sun.Star Davao on Saturday.

He said Cayetano is entered in the centerpiece 10-kilometer run along with the region's top bets Joselito Dugos and Monalisa Ambasa. Dugos will be facing a stiff challenge from recently-crowned Ched Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Rafael Poliquit.

"Cayetano will also launch the Pinay in Action (PIA) - her advocacy in the empowerment of women in our country. It provides venues for a healthier lifestyle and tools and information for a better future," he said.

Entries from Davao Everflex, Marco Polo Hotel, RCBC. East-West Bank, Allied Bank, Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ, Orix Metro, Adidas, Gaisano Mall,Sportstown, Tesoro’s Printing Press, Philhealth XI, Union Galvasteel, DCWD, DLPC, RTours, PNP-PRO XI, Phil. Navy, Eastern Mindano Command, PNP-RTS XI, Beefit Fitness Center, Smashville, Metrolifestyle, Vincent Heights Joggers and USEP are also seeing action.

The footrace features the 3K Kiddies Run (12 years and below), 5K Fun Run and the 10K run.

Male and Female top finishers will receive gift certificates and cash prizes.

Raffle prizes also await those who will be wearing Adidas shoes and apparel during the event that is presented by Adidas and supported by Orix Metro Finance & Leasing Corp., Gaisano Mall of Davao, MILO, Bali Hai Spa, BMEG Premium, Sasaki & Sasaki Co. and Kannari Blasters. (MLSA)
