Chessfest at Citimall

OVER a hundred woodpushers will battle for honors when the Mayor Rodrigo and Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte 73rd Araw ng Dabaw Age-Group Chess Championships opens at the Gaisano South Citimall entertainment center Saturday.

The Swiss System tournament that will have the final rounds on March 21 will award cash prizes and medals to the winners.

The best boys and girls elementary, high school and college players will also receive awards.

The open division, meanwhile, is set on March 27 and 28 at the same venue where the champion will pocket P5,000 and a trophy while the next two placers will receive P2,500 and P1,500. The fourth and fifth placers will go home with P750 each.

Both tournaments are sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) in Davao Region. (MLSA)
