CHINESE investors are now taking a look at the potential investments and joint cooperation that can be undertaken in Davao Region.
On Wednesday, Chinese economic and trade consul to the Philippines Cai Yong was in Davao City to meet with representatives from the regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic Development Authority (Neda), Board of Investments (BOI), and Davao City Investment Promotion Center.

Cai Yong, economic and trade consul of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Cebu, was accompanied by Consular Attache Wenwen Pang to look at potential business opportunities in the region.
During the briefing, representatives of government agencies of Davao City and Davao Region presented a snapshot and overview of the thriving businesses and development prospects that might be of interest to Chinese investors.
For his part, Cai Yong expressed interest in exploring agri-business potentials in seaweeds, vegetables, and in the areas of cold chain development and equipment manufacturing.
The Chinese diplomats also visited the cities of Panabo and Tagum in Davao del Norte on Thursday.
Potential business partnerships for the export of seaweeds and fresh fruits, including banana, are some of the areas being explored by the Chinese in Davao del Norte.
On Friday, Consul Cai Yong and Wenwen Pang met with Neda-Davao Region Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim to discuss opportunities that will strengthen the bilateral partnership between China and the Philippines geared at pushing for the development of the Davao Region.
