But Piquero's teammate Louielle Roy Inson was not as lucky after he suffered a heavy beating from the hands of Panabo's Ricky Baculao, 2-27, in their mosquitoweight (36 kgs.) semi-finals. The latter was set to collide with ComVal's Jayrald Barsenas who demolished Algeboy Bagasena of Davao del Norte, 4-0, in the finals Wednesday.
Davao del Norte's Melvin Ma-ano and Ernie Villance, however, survived their foes to barge into the semi-finals of the paperweight (42 kgs.) and pinweight (45 kgs.) categories, respectively.
Ma-ano edged Philip Jason Madon of Davao del Sur, 3-2, while Villance hacked out a 9-2 rout over Jeffrey Labi of Davao Oriental. Villance will next battle Panabo's Randolf Bagood who trounced Davao City's Albert Agustin.
John Vincent Moralde of Davao City has yet to see action Tuesday night. His brother Engelbert, a bronze medalist in the 2010 Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Tehran, Iran, failed to compete here as he is training in Manila with RP youth coach Elmer Pamisa for the upcoming World Youth Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan early next month.
Revamonte said bouts in light flyweight (48 kgs.), the category where Engelbert was supposed to compete in, vaccuumweight (39 kgs.), paperweight (42 kgs.) and pinweight (45 kgs.) were set Tuesday night.
All finals bouts will be held today.
Over at the New Pandan covered court, Davao City boys elementary basketball team crushed Davao del Sur, 103-37.
