Thank you for inviting me. Unfortunately, I will not be able to play. But I wrote about it so that plenty of golfers will be aware of the tournament and hopefully, it will generate more income to the Davao Chamber. After all, it is for a good cause. Good luck to the participants of the 5th Chamber's Cup!

I would like to talk about one great golfer. Her name is Vinice Godio. She was one of the best players in the Philippines, is the Ladies Club Champion of Alabang Golf Club and Sta. Elena Golf Club.

She was also the Ladies Champion of the National Tournament of Club Champions (NTCC)/Inquirer Golf for two consecutive years. I had the opportunity of playing against her, earlier this year.

I participated in the NTCC, along with Joe Marfori, representing Rancho Palos Verdes. I was able to reach the quarterfinals, but I was paired against Vinice Godio and she beat me. I was able to witness how good she was, hardly making any mistakes at all.

Distance-wise, our drives were the same. But her drives were always on the fairway. If she missed the green, she would easily pitch and putt for a par. She made golf look so easy, she was so relaxed during the match play competition.

Vinice Godio passed away last week. From what I was told, she died because of internal bleeding due to liposuction. Her untimely death shocked everyone. She was only 41. I would like to offer my condolences to her family. She was a very pleasant woman, a jolly person, a friend to all. She will be truly missed by the golfing community. May she rest in peace.
