DTI 11 Regional Director Marizon S. Loreto said that the entry of investors must be accelerated in order to create more jobs and business opportunities in the region.

"Davao Region offers various investment potentials. Thus, we have to strengthen our promotion further for us to stimulate the entry of more investors. In doing so, we need the support of other groups that share the same objective with us," she said.

Under a memorandum of agreement (MOA), Nerbac-Davao will monitor the investment leads and assist investors in the setting up of investments. Meanwhile, the Masicap II will assist in the preparation of at least 50 investment promotion materials (i.e. project briefs, business plans, investment profiles, etc.), conduct market research and gather information on production technology, and assist in the conduct of business-matching and investment forums.

Loreto said DTI is optimistic that a Masicap Team detailed at the Nerbac could not only improve the investment promotion activities but also the delivery of other services to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

"One of the major achievements of Masicap is in assisting SMEs obtain loans as they start or expand their business operations. In fact, it received a Presidential citation last year for this endeavor. This time, the group's track record will gain another mileage as they help us promote the region as the place-to-be in investments," Loreto said.
