Eaglemasters Cup tees off at Palos

IT'S all set for the staging of the 2nd Davao Eaglemasters Cup golf tournament on September 11 and 12 at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Mandug, Buhangin.

Leo Magno, president of the organizing Davao Eaglemasters, said a total of 50 teams have registered as of Wednesday and he is expecting more teams to sign up in time for the two-day event.

The teams, each composed of five players, are divided into three divisions based on their index from 0 to 9 for Division 1, 9.1 to 17 for Division 2 and 17.1 to 24 for Division 3. All five team members will play but only the best four scores will count.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams per divisions and the individual champions and runners-up of the three divisions.

A whooping one million pesos will be the hole-in-one prize at the hole no. 6. It will also be surrounded by eight different holes with P20,000 per hole at stake.

Proceeds of the tournament go to the Bondoc and Indangan Day Care Center and the Eaglesmasters Scholarship Fund, according to Magno.

The two-day event will be presented by Vice President Jejomar Binay and Phoenix Fuels, while the co-presentors are Senators Bong-Bong Marcos, Juan Ponce Enrile and Chiz Escudero, Maxan Trucking Services, Tefasco, Craft Haven, Hexat Mining Corporation, RJ Homes Appliance Plaza, Davao Pilots Association and Dipsscor/ITCSI.

The major sponsors are Amiya Resort Residences, Uptown Clinic and Rodsy Marketing, Environmental Waster Solutions Phils. Inc., LCI Bus Lines, Kudos Trucking Corp., Consolidated Explosives Inc., Nine Coast Enterprises Inc.,
