'Follies de Mwah' in Davao slated

CLUB Mwah, the only accredited tourism theater club in the Philippines, will bring its performers to the cities of Davao and Tagum for a two-day show on August 19 and 20, respectively.

Pocholo Malilin, general manager of Mandaluyong-based Club Mwah, said the show dubbed "Follies de Mwah" is a chance for Dabawenyos to experience Las Vegas and Broadway through a world class performance.

"This is something to look forward to. Though it wouldn't be easy, we will be bringing 26 performers from Manila to perform for Dabawenyos. Napakalaking logistics cost nito because aside from the dancers, we will be bringing with us around 50 boxes of costumes and props," Malilin said adding that they would be leaving Club Mwah for four days.

Club Mwah, he said, earn more or less P300,000 a night.

Follie de Mwah, a Broadway act with a taste of Las Vegas, Moulin Rouge and a twist of comedy, is brought to Davao by Okey Travel Center in cooperation with DOT, Davao Travel Agencies Association (DTAA) and Davao Association of Tour Operators (Dato).

According to May Sheila Daang-Okino, event organizer and producer of Follies de Mwah, the show is aimed at bringing back theatrical shows in Davao City and promote local and international tourist, especially during the 26th Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival.

Making a mark in the entertainment industry, Club Mwah was awarded as Outstanding Theater Club in Asia by the Asian Pacific Award Council in 2007 and received a Global Award of Excellence in Theater Club in 2008 that was awarded in Bangkok, Thailand by the Asian Pacific Award Council. Club Mwah is also an Aliw Awardee for 1010 as Outstanding Theater Club in the Philippines.

Malilin assured that Club Mwah's topnotch performers will do a spectacular and fabulous show for two hours that would mesmerize the audience with their unique dazzling performance.

He added that even Filipino celebrities in the Philippines are impressed by the remarkable performance of Club Mwah's talents. Indeed their performance is a once in a lifetime even that is a must see for both local and international tourists, he said.

The Davao show is slated 8:30 p.m. August 19 at the CAP Auditorium while at 8:30 of August 20, Follies de Mwah will be at the University of Mindanao gymnasium in Tagum City. Tickets are at P500, P800, P1,200 and P1,500.

Kadayawan ticket sale

Meanwhile, in celebration of the Kadayawan Festival, tickets for Follies de Mwah show in Davao City are on sale.

For Gold Tickets previously priced at P1,500 is now available for only P1,000.

Avail of the Buy-1, Take-1 for the P800 tickets.

Balcony and General Admission tickets are still available at P1,200 and P500, respectively.
