Durian Central: A one of a kind revelry-A A +A
Monday, September 3, 2012
"MORE than Mission Accomplished!" proclaimed businessman/ event organizer Kim Liu after the very successful Revelry 2012 party held last August 18 at the Rancho Palos Verdes in Maa.
Revelry 2012, is a pool dance party featuring The Zombettes, a trio of lady DJs who are also fashion models by day: Ornussa Cadness, Sanja Smith and Mia Ayessa.
Aside from the DJs the party was marked by free flowing premium hard drinks Smirnoff vodka, Capt. Morgan's rhum plus Louis Vuitton liquors, Henessy Cognac and Belvedere premium vodka.
According to Kim, a truck was park outside the area which stored 200 bottles of branded hard liquor plus 1,500 bottles of beer. It was an extraordinary party indeed which was attended by an estimated 350 to 400 partyphiles.
For Kim, the vision was to provide an extraordinary event, sort of redefining the local party scene.
"Davao is an emerging market, the city has the same level to take what Cebu and Manila are experiencing," Kim said.
Before returning to his hometown where he currently manages the family-owned Isuzu Cars Davao, Kim focused in running the partly-owned Amber Ultra-Lounge, a hip, trendy bar/lounge located in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
He observes that Davao is a little laidback and spendthrift on events
"They had to feel what it is to feel when they shell-out for a party."
Thus the premium liquors, the classy Moroccan inspired d cor, the exclusive venue with pool, beautiful model/DJs, the crowd- all the elements which make up for a great party experience.
Along with partners Raymond dela Paz and the Fishtank Productions, Kim said the ultimate goal was not to make money but to create a great party and indeed it was.
As the party progressed revelers were swaying and pulling themselves on the RPV clubhouse pool. It was said that cellphone shops and cellphone repairmen were the ultimate beneficiaries of the event with several mobile phones going underwater as the revelers pushed themselves into the pool, most with their party clothes on.
If not for the drenched cellphones, a habitu‚ of Kim's Amber by the name of Anne Curtis would possibly have come to the event and shared in the fun. Anne Curtis was in Davao that night for her Annebisyosa concert held hours earlier and had been texting the Zombettes on their whereabouts.
People just had a blast during that night. At first expecting to see the party dominated by his friends, Kim was pleasantly surprised to find more than half of the guests he did not even know.
Kim hopes that it will be a game changer for many of their future collaborations with Incognito and Fishtank.
On the planning discussions with Raymond dela Paz (they call their partnership Incognito) is a pocket party set on October before the long weekend and another New Year's party which will hopefully change the way how New Year's eve will be celebrated in the city. He also envisioned Revelry to be an annual event in the city branding it as the premium party of Davao.
He says that they wanted to create an event which is something to be proud of and that would make everyone happy and certainly last August's Revelry 2012 would be that benchmark for many parties to come.
Special thanks to Raymond dela Paz and Kim Liu for the photos.
