New Kapuso star shines in new afternoon drama

TENSED but excited. That's how the 18-year-old Kim Rodriguez, known before as Kim Komatso, feels on her first- ever lead role in "Kakambal ni Eliana," a new afternoon series of GMA-7 that will start airing soon.

The pretty actress is just one of the few Kapuso stars who trooped here in the city to give color and hype to the 76th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.
In a chit-chat with the young actress, she admitted that she was clueless at first that she will be given this kind of break.

"At first di pa pinaalam sa akin, tapos ganun pinabihis ako for the pictorial daw yun, tapos may nagsabi na para dun sa bagong serye. Ayun nabigla ako na di ko alam paano i-explain," she said.

Kakambal ni Eliana is a story about a girl who was born with a snake attached on her back. Eliana, a role played by Kim and the snake share one spinal cord. The snake comes out from her back and wraps itself around her hand every time she feels extreme emotions like sadness or anger.

She will grow up alone, not knowing anything about the world and not knowing anything about her family because she was kept hidden inside a basement.

"Bale dito may kakambal akong ahas, ano siya king snake. At first medyo nakakatakot kasi takot ako sa ahas, pero habang tumatagal nawawala na rin. Mahirap din lalo na pag may mabigat na eksena yung nag-aaway kami ng kambal kung ahas, di naman siya pwedeng sakalin talaga baka tuklawin din ako, so ingat lang po talaga," she said.

The actress signed a five year contract with GMA. She's now on her second year with the Kapuso Network.

The actress who is a look alike of Iza Calzado admitted that she still has a long way to go and more things to learn.

Kim's showbiz career blossoms after she auditioned and been accepted for "Reel Love Presents: Tween Hearts."

Since then she started appearing in different Kapuso shows, like "Sinner or Saint," "Biritera," and "Coffee Prince."

Just recently Kim won as Best New Movie Actress of the Year at 29th Star Awards, a thing she is so proud of.

Other casts of the new series are Kristoffer Martin, Enzo Pineda, Lexi Fernandez.

Kristoffer will play the role of Gabo. Gabo grew up in the streets. Even though he did not finish school, he is street-smart. He will do anything to survive. Gabo is the one who will help and be Eliana's friend when she finally got out of isolation. He was not even scared when he found out that Eliana has a twin snake. He stood by Eliana and will eventually fall in love with her.

On the other hand, Enzo will play the role of Julian, a fashion photographer. He belongs to a loving family. He is quiet and reserved but expresses himself through his photographs. Julian has a girlfriend named Margarita but later on he falls in love with Eliana as well.

Lexi plays the role of Margarita. She is a model and she is also Julian's girlfriend. She grew up spoiled and is used to getting everything she wanted. Margarita always needs to be the best. She is very competitive and she'll do anything just to get what she wants. She will eventually hate Eliana because of Julian’s display of affection towards her.
