Completing the cast are Sarah Labahti, Jiro Manio, Allan Paule, Maricel Morales, Rich Asuncion, Shamaine Centenera, Orlando Sol and introducing the country's newest child star, Nicky Castro.
Directed by the award-winning Maryo J. delos Reyes, Little Star tells the fascinating story of a singing child star named Niño Estrella (Nicky Castro) and how he touches the lives of the people around him including a famous female singer, her personal assistant, a photographer and an opportunist.
The story begins with Helen (Jennylyn Mercado) and her sister Paula (Sarah Labahti) on their way to their father, Gener (Allan Paule), who works in Manila. Unfortunately, the ship they are into meets an accident. While Paula gets rescued immediately, Helen stays floats in the sea with an infant she found in the ship and Dave (Mark Anthony Fernandez), a good-hearted, handsome photographer. Soon they will be rescued and part ways but it is obvious that Helen and Dave instantly made a connection.
Sisters Helen and Paula will soon find out that aside from illness, their father failed to send them money because Gener is also supporting his new wife Ruby (Maricel Morales) and their son Joross (Jiro Manio).
Although hurt by the lies and infidelity of his father, Helen and Paula have no choice but to live with them. The awkward situation prompted Helen to search for a job. With Dave's help, Helen, a simple, pretty and responsible young woman who failed to finish college due to poverty, will soon work as an assistant to singing sensation Gwyneth (Lovi Poe).
Gwyneth is one of the successful celebrities in showbiz whose flourishing career as a singer is envied by her friends and contemporaries. But amidst her success, Gwyneth faces the biggest dilemma in her life? That she is pregnant!
What started as a blind item will soon be identified in showbiz talk shows but Gwyneth will deny all the intrigues claiming it's her assistant Helen who is pregnant. Unknown to everyone, Gwyneth has asked Helen to support her statement and pose as the child's mother in exchange for a huge sum of money. Helen's ardent suitor Lester (Paolo Contis), who is an opportunist, will also join the deal and will pose as the child's father.
Blinded by her success, will Gwyneth pursue with the deal? Is she willing to abandon her child to her assistant just to keep her fame? Or will her love for her own son prevail?
At a young age, is Helen willing to accept a huge responsibility for the sake of money? What if Dave finds out that the fire he played with Gwyneth bore a child? Will he save his son from abandonment? And amid chaos, is there a chance that the magic of love can sparkle between Helen and Dave? And which will prove stronger: the pull of blood or the heart's desire?
Aside from its compelling story, Little Star is a highly challenging dramatic soap for its artists. For Lovi, the show marks as the most challenging drama series to date since this is her first time to work with Maryo J. delos Reyes. This is also Sarah Labahti's first venture into serious heavy drama while former beauty queen Rich Asuncion is looking forward to work with the premiere director
Mark Anthony and Jennylyn, who both worked with director Maryo J. delos Reyes in the top-rating shows Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak and Impostora, respectively, find Little Star exciting at the same time challenging because they will be working again with the multi-awarded director and some of the country's awarding-winning artists like Paolo Contis, Allan Paule and Jiro Manio.
More so, Little Star's creative team is the same group behind the top-rating show Trudis Liit, which the new program will also replace.
Catch Little Star as it shines bright every afternoon after Yaman ni Lola in GMA Network's Haponalo.
