Ex-lady cop faces raps for not returning gun

THE Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices filed charges against a former policewoman accused of not returning her issued firearm after her dismissal from service.
Graft Investigation and Prosecution officer Blas Antonio Tuliao recommended the filing of charges against PO2 Melody Grace Lupiba, a resident of Kilometer 3 in Nacilla Village, Bugac, Ma-a, Davao City.

Prosecutor Victor Dumlao of the City Prosecutor’s Office found probable cause for Malversation of Public Property against Lupiba and forwarded the recommendation to the Ombudsman in Mindanao for approval.
Records showed that Lupiba was officially issued a 9mm Pietro Beretta caliber pistol, two magazines, and 28 rounds of cartridge by supply officer Alex Balbon Gulmatico on April 28, 2003.
After her dismissal from service, Lupiba failed to turn them over despite repeated demands.
