Davao tech-voc school in Tunafest

JUST on its fourth year of operation, St. Joseph Technical Academy of Davao City (SJ) made its presence felt in the 6th Tuna Festival Skills Olympic held in General Santos recently as it ranked first runner-up in over-all standing.
Their students also won individual awards in the various categories.
SJ grabbed the third runner-up slot in the angel hair pasta preparation (students Azil Tolentinto and Rodel Narit; coach Kristine CyndelTagle), bread display (students Tyron Naya and JhizaZabate; coach Tagle), table skirting(AirasylTingcon and RegiePagdayawon with coach Jay Narangho), buffet centerpiece (Jeremiah Saul Matoy with coach Narangho), waiters relay (Jonathan Vanguardia, John Paul Sampaga, and Ariel de Leon with coach Sarah Jane Escalante), and Tanduay bartending (Jor-el Avala with coach Escalante).
It also placed second runner-up in table setting with students Ariel de Leon, JemarBanga, and Regie Pagdayawon with coach Narangho.
A SEC-registered non-stock, non-profit corporation founded in 2007, SJ the only institution in Davao City to offer all nine Hotel and Restaurant Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) competencies, namely: Bartending, Commercial Cooking, Food & Beverage Services, Housekeeping, Tour Guiding Services, Baking/Pastry Production, Front Office Services, Travel Bartending, Commercial Cooking, Food & Beverage Services, Housekeeping, Tour Guiding Services, Baking/Pastry Production, Front Office Services, Travel Services and Barista, all with NC 2 ratings.
It is located at the third floor of Maxima Siasu Building along R. Magsaysay Avenue in Davao City.
