THOUSANDS of students have made the big switch to Smart and are now enjoying the affordable and best-value offers of the wireless leader's "Jump In" prepaid SIM.
Designed specifically for young barkadas, the Jump In SIM gives users unlimited texts to all networks for two days; or unlimited texts, 30 minutes of calls to five friends on the Smart, Sun, and Talk 'N Text networks, and 10 MB of data for one day all for just P15.
To make it easier and more enjoyable for students to get the Jump In SIM, Smart has been visiting schools all over the country with fun activities and prizes. It is also offering the SIM for free to students who only need to activate it by loading P15 in consumable credits.
When the Jump In Caravan visited San Sebastian College in Manila, hotel and restaurant management student Ma. Angelica Belmonte and her friends immediately availed themselves of the new SIM.
"Our barkada has always wanted a better, more reliable way to get in touch with each other. We're always texting, especially when we’re planning something together. So when I found out about the new barkada SIM that Smart offered, I was excited because now communication would be easier for all of us,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jan Rhen and her fellow statistics seniors at University of the Philippines Visayas said the Jump In SIM would help them stay in touch after graduation.
“Pam, Lizbel, Rachel, Tracy, and I have been friends for the past four years. We like the new SIM because it is affordable and it gives us an easy way to communicate with each other,” Jan Rhen said.
Emmanuel Lorenzana, Smart executive vice president and head of wireless consumer division, said Smart developed a product exclusively for students because they are among the top users of mobile technology.
“We took into consideration their lifestyle and budget to provide the perfect SIM that will let them build and enrich their relationships without draining their allowance. We are happy that the Jump In SIM has been getting good reception from students all over the country,” he said.
The Jump In Caravan, which was launched in mid-November, had been to more than a dozen schools by the end of 2012. Aside from visiting San Sebastian College and UP Visayas, the caravan also went to University of Baguio, University of Pangasinan, Angeles University in Pampanga, Our Lady of Fatima University in Valenzuela, San Beda College in Manila, Ateneo de Naga, Southwestern University in Cebu, Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro, and University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao.
In the first month of 2013, the Jump In Caravan will be at Northwestern University in Ilocos Norte, St. Paul College in Quezon City, Far Eastern University and Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology in Iloilo, and St. Paul University in Surigao.
Students can also get the Jump In SIM at any of the 100 Smart Stores nationwide.
James Baredo, a marketing major at San Beda College, said he likes how the Jump In SIM is tailor-fit for young people like him. “I also like how it’s packaged with an upbeat song sung by two great artists – Apl.de.ap and Jessica Sanchez. The message really fits what the youth should be doing.”
The Pinoy global superstars’ Jump In song for Smart encourages the youth to stop hesitating and just do the things they want to do. The song is featured in a Smart Jump In commercial which includes vignettes of a teenage boy mustering enough courage to ask his crush out, a barkada jumping off a waterfall cliff, and a boy on a wheelchair playing basketball.
“With Smart’s superior voice, SMS, and data services, students will be able to share their Jump In moments with friends without worrying about blocked and dropped calls, unsent text messages, and poor Internet connection,” Lorenzana said.
