TO WORK for the community is an achievement one cannot attain without passion. This is how Warren de Vera Gamutan, of the City Prosecution Office, described his profession as clerk.
For Gamutan, public service is a commitment. As a court clerk, he already derives satisfaction, but he admits to aspiring to do more.
"I am not saying I don't like my job. I've been working as a clerk here (prosecution office) for four years, masaya naman ako, it's just that I'm also open to other opportunities like working in the court or in the city government," Gamutan said.
"Gusto ko lang din siguro tularan ang parents ko, who has been working as public servants. Sa health nga lang sila, but the thing here is, I want to help more people like my parents do," he added.
Born in Cotabato City on September 24, 1976, Gamutan is a graduate of Law from the University of Mindanao in 2005. He completed his degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Ateneo de Davao University in 1997.
Gamutan has been working with the City Prosecution Office since 2009. He started in government service as a clerk in Civil Service Commission from 2000 to 2002 and worked in a Cooperative here as a real estate agent from 2007 to 2008 before he joined the prosecution office.
Schedules have been hectic, he said, but he makes sure he leads a balanced life.
"Life is beautiful. Let's not make things complicated. Anyway, dreaming is free... and we could always do something to reach our dream. If it is meant for us, it would be given to us. Ganun lang ka simple ang life," Gamutan said.
