THERE are many of them in the city and some have made names in Manila's tinsel town, print and TV ads, indie movies and product endorsements. He may be one aspiring model, Jhon is hopeful he will be noticed one day and be credited by his qualifications.
His name is Henry G. Tribulano Jr. He considers Talaingod and Kapalong his hometown. The youngest among three, Jhon was born on May 23, 1992 to Henry Sr. and Marylin G. Tribulano. He went to Maryknoll High School of Maniki Inc. and is a graduate of AB Mass Communications at the University of Mindanao.
Let us meet one of the Top Faces of Davao Eagle online in this conversation:
Skip O Jack (SOJ): When did your love for modeling start?
Jhon (J): When I was a child, I always wished and hoped to become a famous TV personality. I always wanted to be exposed in the camera and to entertain people through acting and hosting. I began to love hosting and modeling when I was in college. As a masscom student. I was exposed to a lot of acting, hosting as well as dancing. I was once part of a local variety show "Dream Star Show" every Sunday in 2008. .
SOJ: What made you stick with it all these years?
J: Being in this industry is like in a battlefield, you must have that fighting spirit or else you're going to lose in the game. I've been through a lot of difficulties and challenges but I never let them stop me from what doing what I want. I always think positively and see those barriers from a bright perspective. What made me stick with it all these years are the joyful and memorable experiences that I've encountered along the way. I met a lot of people from different walks of life and I think it feels great.
SOJ: What are some of the challenges that you face in your craft?
J: I believe that, when you really want and love what you are doing, then everything will be fine. Challenges are always present in all things you do. Ill makes sure that I'm always prepared to face those challenges that may come to my way. I t is always been my fear to face in a crowd sometimes, I challenged me most because I need to work with my confidence in order for me to surpass this challenge.
SOJ: What is it about modelling that you really love?
J: What I love about all of it is the happiness that it brings me. It changed and helped me a lot in becoming a better person, not just being good in this craft but also to becoming responsible in what I choose to do.
SOJ: What is your dream for your career?
J: I dreamt to be a Doctor of Medicine, but my passion and love for the limelight drove me to the entertainment industry. This time, I want to pursue my new dream, which is to become a cabin crew.
SOJ: Who do you idolize among international/local celebrities?
J: I'm always rooting for Mila Kunis, There's something in her eyes that I can't resist
SOJ: What advice can you give to the new breed of talents?
J: Think positive. Remember this, you can't do anything if you begin by saying "I can't Do it." Just do it! If you think it's the right thing to do.
SOJ: Five/ten years from now, will you still be doing what you do? Why?
J: Maybe, I'll become a responsible father to my son or daughter.
SOJ: Which area of Davao's entertainment scene needs improvement? Why?
J: Life is indeed here in Davao City. We have many talents here. Many teenagers are eager to show off their talents especially in modeling. I suggest to the local government to give opportunities to those who want to become models, actors, singer or dancers by giving free workshops for free or at affordable rates. This way, teenagers will become assets to the society instead of being dragged into addiction and gambling.
