THE visual art scene in the city is stirring back to life with two exhibits opening this week in two different venues.
“Balay Kalipay”, a visual art exhibit for the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Habitat for Humanity Philippines at Abreeza Mall on September 18, 2013, Wednesday, at 6 p.m.
The artworks on 2’x2’ canvases will be auctioned out as a fund-raising activity for Habitat.
The exhibit is a collection of art that characterizes the artist’s experience and vision of home, as these bodies of work are interpreted in various artistic modes. Some appears thoughtfully objective, transcendentally abstract, paradoxically nostalgic, light and even trivial. However these diverse views narrows to a singular perspective – art that are engaged with the dynamic worldview of home.
The exhibiting artists are Rosamond Alejar, Jeff Bangot, Anton Cadayona III, Jun Cayas, Dr. Nina Custodio, Victor Dumaguing, Sun.Star Davao editor-in-chief Stella Estremera, Gilbert Milaflor, Kublai Millan, Jon Traya, and Glenn Remolador.

On September 19 at Seda Hotel, Mindanao artist Kublai Ponce Millan will be opening his one-man exhibit, “Abode”.
This profound Abode collection of Kublai is a testament of a maturing artist of his time, who keeps his Davao and Mindanao ancestries intact.
Each artwork is a tidbit of his independent but interweaving life views, but in a bigger and holistic picture is a man whose real abode rests within the heart.
