'Ride for the Eagle' attracts 456 bikers

IN AN effort to raise funds and provide further awareness for the cause, the Philippine Eagle Foundation, in partnership with Marco Polo Davao, held a Fun Ride on March 23, 2014.

This attracted an impressive crowd of 456 participants composed of families, friends and ride clubs. The 23-kilometer bike trail started and ended at Marco Polo Davao. The Philippine Eagle mascot which was part of the convoy was a scene-stealer among the crowd.

Among the bike clubs who participated were: Dorba Digos, Scuba, Abar Group, Kutas Bikers, Brodia Bikers, Knights Rider, Dapba, Matina Mountain Biker, Tagum Buddies, Cycle for Life, Ajinomoto Bikers, Cyclesport of Bansalan, Davao Extreme, JPH Global Trading, Guru Bikers, Sto. Tomas Bikers Club, NFA, South Davao Mountain Riders, SFX Big Daddy’s Fun Bikers, Comfoods and Eco Ateneo Knight Riders. Davao Companies such as DCWD, Alsons, PLDT, Eeastmincom, Team Spars, DPWH Bikers and the Philippine Navy were also well-represented.

All participants got a tasty and filling breakfast and a chance to win in the lucky draw. Minor prizes such as Bicycle parts – helmet, water bottles, water cage, handlebar, gloves, chain protector, cable lock and more, were given away. Major prizes included gift certificates of lunch and dinner buffet for two at Café Marco, obernight stay with breakfast for two in a superior room, and the much-coveted standard mountain bike.

The event would not have been a success without the support of Marco Polo Davao, Abreeza of the Ayala Malls, Dole Stanfilco, Jigstar Bicycle and Lantaw Bukid.
