ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Martina Audrey Uyboco will be performing at Claude’s Le Cafe de Ville on December 16, 6:30 p.m., in Merry Christmas From Martina-Noel a Paris (Christmas in Paris).
Her repertoire consists of pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy and Moritz Moszkowski -- all composed in Paris.
This will be Martina’s third time performing at Claude’s and she will be joined by her mentor, Professor Russell Brandon, for the duet pieces.
Martina, or “Drei” as she is fondly called, is a fifth-grade pupil at the Davao Christian High School. She began playing the piano at the age of 5. When she turned 6, she came under the tutelage of Professor Brandon, a Scottish musicologist and concert pianist residing in Davao. Professor Brandon quickly recognized Drei’s talent as she breezed through her basic lessons, so he began giving her more difficult and challenging classical pieces, and encouraging her to perform in public.
The event is part of Claude’s Christmas Blessings -- three nights of charity events -- the other dates being on December 22 with Muzikademy and December 23 with ICEA Performing Arts, where the owners have decided to share the proceeds of the evenings with selected beneficiaries.
For this particular night, the beneficiary is Andre Padrelanan, a 16-year old boy diagnosed with lupus and very much in need of financial support for his medication.
The menu for the evening features Assiette Gourmande composed of Mussels Mariniere, Shrimps Calypso and Fromaga La Maria & Blush; French Onion Soup; Asparagus Mimosa on a Bed of Lettuce; Dinde de Noel (Christmas Turkey) with Stuffing, Candied Sweet Potatoes and Cranberry Jam; and topped off with Iced Soufflé with Liqueur.
Dinner is at P1,500 (net) per person. Seats are limited so please make reservations ahead of time by calling Claude’s Le Cafe de Ville at 222-4287 or 227-9405 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. (PR)
