Guard sued for murder

A SECURITY guard was charged with shooting to death a man inside Sasa wharf at Kilometer 10 last week.

Charged with murder was Renante Arcillo Palacio, 30, a security guard of Davao Superior Security Agency Inc. and a resident of Sto. Niño Pelayo, Barangay Centro in Agdao, Davao City.

The victim was identified as Gaudioso Alibangbang.

Prosecutor Samuel Atencia recommended the filing of the case based on the accounts of Moises Bulusan Pineda and Reynaldo Galicia Jr. of the Philippine Ports Authority.

In an affidavit, Pineda and Galicia said that while on duty around 7:50 p.m. on March 11, they were informed of a shooting incident at Berth-5 of Sasa wharf.

They said they immediately proceeded to the area and noticed a man, later identified as the suspect, being mauled by angry bystanders.

They said they arrested the suspect, who admitted to have fired a warning shot but accidentally hit the victim, causing the latter's instantaneous death.

No bail was recommended for the respondent's temporary liberty.
