Guv bolts Lakas, supports Villar

COMPOSTELA Valley Governor Arturo "Chiongkee" Uy has formally resigned from the administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD and vowed to support Nacionalista Party (NP) presidential bet Senator Manny Villar.

In his irrevocable resignation letter dated April 8, the governor said his "loyalty to the party ends when my loyalty to the people begins."

"I am looking after the future of my province," Uy said in a text message to Sun.Star Davao Sunday.

Uy, who is Lakas' provincial chair, will be running as independent. He did not discount the possibility though that he would be joining the NP.

The governor said his decision to leave the administration party was because of the confusion going on now in the party.

"There's so much confusion going on in the party. No direction. After Gibo (Gilberto Teodoro) and Migs (Dominguez) resigned from their posts, there is no more reason for me to stay with Lakas," Uy said.

With Uy's resignation, not a single governor is allied with the Lakas in the Davao Region.

Uy along with Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon and Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas are allied with Villar's NP while Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario joined Liberal Party of Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino.

Only Mati City Mayor Michelle Rabat along with two other municipal mayors in Davao Oriental has openly expressed their support for Lakas-Kampi-CMD's presidential bet Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro. (BOT)
