IF NOT for the absence of alcohol, drinking shooters of colorful liquids from a shot glass would have not been something new.
It was a perfect day for lunch with the sun proudly beaming on the Davao Gulf and soft breezes softly blowing over the fronds of coconut trees at the garden of Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao.

Upon the invitation of the ever gracious Brenda Ocampo, wife of GMA 7 broadcaster and Testigo anchor Tek Ocampo, I trotted over at the hotel's Cafe Uno.
As always, it's a hearty lunch with Cafe Uno's delectable array on the intercontinental buffet that has dishes from Japanese, Filipino, French, and Chinese cuisines.
The highlight of the show was not the buffet at Café Uno, but came in shot glasses.
As Waterfront's food and beverage manager Oliver Roemling told me over lunch, they are offering a new alternative to the regular drinks that are offered in all establishments.
"We wanted something healthy for our guests. Although healthy, it will be something easy for every one of all ages to take," Oliver said. "Nowadays the quality of the food we are getting is getting worst and the quantity of the vegetables in our daily meal is decreasing."
Thus, the latest offering of Waterfront Insular Hotel is a concoction of freshly juiced vegetables that, surprisingly, tastes good.
Unlike eating the actual vegetables, taking it straight on a shooter or sipping it while lounging is actually a refreshing way of having your dose of veggies.
From the good old Carrot juice to the exotic multi-hued resistance juice and other mixes, are all available to accompany you at all the dining outlets of Waterfront Insular.
With the constantly changing weather, humidity in the morning, rains in the evening, there's no better way of boosting that immune system by taking a shot of vegetables.
