HUMAN rights group Karapatan held a protest Thursday in front of 10th Infantry Division (ID) headquarters in Camp Panacan to commemorate the first death anniversary of Bayan Muna members Danilo Cualbar and Rolando Antolihao.
Some 100 human rights activists, composed mostly of the family, relatives, and friends of Cualbar, joined in the protest, Karapatan head Kelly Delgado said.

Cualbar, Bayan Muna cluster coordinator in Barangay Ngan Compostela Valley, was killed on November 6, 2008. He was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen while traveling from the market to his home, Delgado said.
Antolihao, a Bayan Muna cluster coordinator in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, was killed inside his house on November 10, Delgado said.
"Mao ra gihapon, wala ra gihapon nasulbad ang kining mga pagpamatay. Ang among ginabasol mao ra pud. Wala mi laing makitang naghimo ani kundi ang mga sundalo. Ang pattern sa pagpamatay pud nila mao ra pud gihapon (It's still the same, the killings are remained unsolved. We don't see anyone who'll do this other than the soldiers)," Delgado said.
The protesters held placards at the gates of Camp Panacan, but their voices were drowned by the loud playing of Christmas songs from amplified speakers at the camp's gates.
"Naa na man mi mga gipasa nga mga complaints sa CHR (Commission on Human Rights) pero wala nila ginarelease kung naa bay mga development nga supposedly public document dapat na siya (We have already filed complains before the CHR but until now they haven't released any development on the case)," Delgado said.
Delgado said the latest count of extrajudicial killings in Southern Mindanao Region since 2001 amounted to 110, while the killings in the country reached 1,093.
"Ang pasabot niani wala gihapon niundang ang mga pagpamatay ug sa tanaw namo mas mudaghan pa ni kay hapit na ang eleksyon. (Killings never stopped and we believe there will be more killings as the 2010 elections approaches)," Delgado said.
