Aeon Towers: Changing condo living in Davao

DAVAO is known for many important things. Among the vast lands of Davao is Mount Apo, the country's highest peak. It is home to the endangered Philippine Eagle, the bird icon of the Philippines. Also found in the forests of the dormant volcano is waling-waling, touted to be the queen of Philippine orchids.

It is also in Davao where you can find exotic fruits like durian, mangosteen, and marang. Also available all year round are mango, pineapple, pomelo, jackfruit, and banana (one of the region's export crops).

Indeed, "life is here," so said the tag line of Davao City. No wonder, people come to flock the city anytime of the year - whether there's the Kadayawan Festival or just an ordinary meeting of friends. People like it here.

"The influx of big names in the commercial and real estate industry have cemented our place as the tourism and development capital of Mindanao and the top destination for those who want to experience the best of nature and the finest of luxurious modern conveniences all in one place," said Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.

The lady mayor said those words during the investors' night and soft launching of the Aeon Towers. "We are extremely proud that amid all these real estate giants," commented Duterte in a speech delivered by her tourism officer, Jason Magnaye, "a local company has been busily changing the game, proving that one reason Davao is able to compete with the rest of the country is not only because we have been blessed with abundant natural resources, but because talented Dabawenyos are able to compete with the best of them."

The term aeon is actually an English word, which alternately means "life" or "being" and "forever" or "eternity." Chief Executive Officer Ian T. Cruz explains: "The concept of endlessness can be associated with the boundless possibilities of life in the city, and consequently, in the residence which Aeon Towers will offer."

Mayor Duterte has this say: "AEON Towers will not only redefine condo living here in Davao, but will also give Mindanawons and other visitors with discriminating taste the upscale lifestyle they crave for. AEON Towers gives us a glimpse of the future of Davao City, and judging by what we see, it will be a dazzling future indeed."

According to Cruz, AEON Towers would be one of the first buildings in the country that will offer the SmartHome Technologies. A fiber optic backbone goes through every unit. Fused with wireless technology, it gives every resident the opportunity to experience a new level of modern, truly smart and connected living with Cisco's Smart+Connected Home Systems.

With SmartHome, the brochure stated, the house takes care of the resident. A touch-screen master controller allows the resident to dim the lights, turn air condition on and off, draw the curtain, play his favorite music, adjust the shower temperature, and control the door access wherever he is and whenever he wants. "Even if you are in Manila or in the United States, as long as you are connected on line, you can monitor your unit," Cruz says.

Other features of the state-of-the-art technology are: high definition video conferencing (see people in high definition video as you talk to them online), channel modulators (take video signals from security cameras to any TV), video door phone (shows who is at the door), mobile entry (opens the door through your cell phone), sunlight sensors (detects the amount of sunlight that comes into the room and regulates it to keep you comfortable), and digital reminders (recap important details and appointments).

Touted to be "a unique real-estate property," Aeon Towers is a luxurious condominium and a 5-star hotel in one roof. "It is a high-rise 30-storey building (more or less) that will consist of commercial areas, hotel and twenty-two floors of residential condominium units."

To would-be residents, Cruz offers this assurance: "Amidst the advance technology or 'state-of-the-art' features of the condominium, the essence of home is never forgotten in every corner of the designs. It must still remain a home that is 'close to the heart' - so there is also the promise of fond memories and unforgettable experiences if people choose to stay in Aeon Towers."

One good thing about Aeon Towers is that it is envisioned to be environment-friendly. Consider the following: ultraviolet protective tint for sun rays, sound proof glasses, open space in the middle for ventilation (no "inner units"), and rain water harvesting (which reuses rain water for cleaning and watering of landscapes found at the common areas). More importantly, the building is equipped with a lightning transistor.

Aeon Towers is being developed as a high-end project complete with prime amenities and a majestic view of Davao Gulf and Mt. Apo. It is created, designed and conceptualized by Architect Dennis J. Litonjua.

Aeon Towers will rise right at the heart of Davao City's industrial park - at the Jose P. Laurel Avenue. "It will stand among major educational centers, entertainment complex, and commercial hubs," Cruz says, adding that the construction will start at first quarter of 2012, and projected time of turnover will be on first quarter of 2016.

Once it is built, Aeon Towers would be one of Davao City's landmarks. "The Aeon Towers is a structure that will embody the spirit of residents of Davao, towering over the Davao City landscape. A monolith that stands for the endless possibilities that life in the fast evolving city has to offer. It is a perfect balance between boldness and tradition, between a carefree lifestyle and a progressive mindset."

The developer behind Aeon Towers is the FTC Group of Companies Corporation, which was established in December 2009. It is an affiliate of the AGL Sons Incorporated, which is known to be one of the leading operators of real estate commercial building development. Cruz serves also as the president.

When asked why he concentrates his businesses in Davao City, Cruz replies, "Davao City is one of the cleanest cities in the country. There is less pollution. If you want to go to the beach, in a matter of ten to fifteen minutes you will be there already.

"Everything," Cruz adds, "is very convenient. The people are friendlier compared to those you meet in other cities. But more importantly, the cost of living here is reasonable."

And that was what real estate broker and movie actor Gabby Concepcion said who graced the soft launching of Aeon Towers. "This is the first time I have been in the heart of Davao City, although I had been in this city several times," the former matinee idol said. "The prices of the condos of Aeon Towers are very reasonable."
