WHAT kind of scale compares the weight of two beauties, the gravity of duties, or the ground speed of joy? Tell me, what kind of gage can quantify elation? What kind of equation could I possibly employ?

Those words, penned by American singer and songwriter Ani Difranco, came to my mind while attending the product launching of Asuki Weighing System, Inc. (Awsi) at the Grand Regal Hotel recently.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

Awsi is touted to be the "precision weighing partner." The reason: it has everything you want in terms of weighing: price computing scale, bench scale, counting scale, waterproof weighing scale, hanging scale, heavy duty carne scale, platform scale, wash down platform scale, digital livestock scale, digital floor scale, digital pallet scale, axle weigher, basic scale, and pocket scale. It also has truck scale.

Name it, the company has it. "In fact, we accept customized scale according to the requirements needed by our customers or business companies,” says Jen Corrales, Awsi's national manager. "For profile and specification, all they have to do is visit our region distributor or main office."

Its main office is located at Malabon, Metro Manila. It has several branches: Cebu (in Mandaue), Iloilo (Bagumbayan), Cagayan de Oro (Gusa), Isabela (Cauayan), and General Santos (Calumpang). In Davao City, its branch is located at the Diversion Road in Buhangin.

"Asuki has been in existence for several years now," Francis Ong, the proprietor of Awsi said. "The product presentation’s purpose is not only to showcase our company and its products, but also aims to promote innovation in our units and deliver high quality services to our valued clients."

It was in line of the program’s theme: "Economic progress through the advancement of the electronic weighing system's technology." Television and radio host Lanley Guillermo and Claudette Centeno hosted the four-hour program.

"This is the first time we bring the launching of our products to Davao City,” says Kenneth Dong, the president of Asource International Enterprises. He also serves as Asuki Vice President.

Councilor Conrado Baluran, who read the message of Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte (who wasn’t able to attend), said the company made a right choice in choosing the city as the venue of the launching.

Juan Miguel Zubiri, who graced the occasion as guest speaker, said Asuki is perhaps the most reliable sources of weighing scale in the country today. "It sells the most relevant, precise, and efficient weighing scale," he said.

The program was also a sort of Christmas program. Among those given recognition and awards were top buyer and consistent buyers of Asuki, early bird, and star of the night. Some participants were also given gifts through the raffles Asuki conducted.

All those who attended the program did not end up going home nothing. At the end of the program, each one receives a weighing scale as a gift. Perhaps as a way of reminding people of how heavy or skinny they are.
