"We can offer good food at reasonable prices and quality service," says Yap. "We want Dabawenyos to experience that."
Among the house specialties at Chika-an are the mouth-watering crispy pata, baked scallops, sizzling squid, pochero steak, grilled bangus, sizzling tuna belly and mongo soup. They also serve unlimited rice.
The 38-year-old Yap said their list of valued customers include Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte whom, he swears, loves their mongo soup.
Chika-an Davao is the first franchisee of the famous Chika-an in Cebu that has long been serving Filipino dishes to the Cebuanos.
Yap said he didn't hesitate to bring Chika-an to Davao City after his close friend and Chika-an franchise owner Derek Dytian offered to do business with him in of his trips in Cebu.
"It's been there for how many years and it has proven itself to be successful," said Yap, who is from General Santos City.
The first thing one notices upon entering Chika-an at Abreeza is it's warm ambiance. But, more than this, Chika-an is really known for its good food and quality service, two most important ingredients that have attracted customers to Yap's place.
"You really focus on the quality of the food because that's what people would like to see when they go to a restaurant. To have a good dining
experience," Yap said.
"Here, when you dine we have comfort food. It's what you have in the house," he added.
Yap plans to open two more Chika-an restaurants in Davao to cater to the Dabawenyos' desire for good food at a reasonable price.
So, what are you waiting for. Fill that hungry stomach at Chika-an and have a pleasant dining experience.
