DPWH Usec inducts Pice Davao officers

DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Romeo S. Momo, also national president of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (Pice), inducted into office the 2012 officers and directors of the Pice Davao City Chapter headed by its new president, Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero at the Marco Polo Davao on January 20.

Other officers inducted are: Hector A. Magno -- 1st vice president; Hilario A. Fernandez -- 2nd vice president; Ana Marie C. Marte -- secretary; Juliet T. Luy -- treasurer; Roderick R. Tecson -- auditor; Juan Claudio Y. Tinga -- business manager; and Anacleto V. Calamba Jr. -- public information officer.

Cary H. Beatisula, Sharon Angelica G. Bonguyan, Angelita L. Caballero, Silvino G. Presto Jr., Teresita D. Ragonton, Francis R. Rizon and Angel T. Torrejon are the Directors. Engr. Albert A. Ancla, immediate past president is ex-officio director.

USec Momo, in his speech, challenged the new officers to strengthen the ideals of the profession by initiating projects and programs that would benefit the members and the community. He also stressed that the chapter should work hard to increase the membership of the organization and to reach out to all civil engineers in the city.

On the same occasion, Engr. Ramon F. Allado, chairman of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) sworn in to office the Chairs & Vice Chairs of the 10 Pice standing committees. These committees will be the working arm of PICE in their numerous plans and projects lined up for the next 12 months.

A highlight of the event was the inaugural address of Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero, 2012 Pice Davao City Chapter president, who presented the comprehensive keypoints of his administration. Among them are the strengthening of members' relationships, the conduct of community service projects and continuing professional development of members, the support to civil engineering students/Junior Pice, the active participation and partnership with government and private institutions, the completion and face-lifting of the Pice building, the construction of Pice marker and the generation of resources to support the chapter's activities and projects for the year.

The momentous event was also graced by DPWH 11 assistant regional director Tomas Rodriguez, Davao City Acting Planning Chief Robert Alabado III, past PICE Presidents, supporters, benefactors and successful civil engineers in the city and nearby provinces.
