ACD reaps bountiful harvest in IT national tilt

YOUNG Information Technology (IT) enthusiasts from among the graders and high school student participants of Assumption College of Davao brought home awards and accolade after winning in the prestigious 3rd Grand National competition of the Philippine Association of Junior IT Achievers (Pajita).

Participated by several private educational institutions all over the country, the competition was recently held at the Bayview Hotel in Manila on January 21, 2012.

Grade six pupils who shone as national champions in the on-the-spot Digital Story making for the first time were Danareb Kyla A. Valle and Patricia Casas, both of whom only got 3rd place during the Regional Pajita competition in Davao City in 2011.

Winning the 3rd place in IT Spelling Contest include Micah Cero, Joana Hilario and Jason Pullan.

"Pat and I cried when we heard our names called as champions," Danareb recalled, adding that the rest of the team from ACD jumped up and down with joy. It was an exhilarating experience for the kids indeed, who did not even expect that they would bag the biggest prize.

Meanwhile, Cleo Dyan Matuco from the Assumption College won as national champion in the category of Internet Advertisement using Macromedia Flash Ver 8.

Rai Andrea Anaud likewise was also national champion in the Web Page Design using Dreamweaver CS4. Both of these contestants came out 2nd placers during the Pajita regional competitions.

The other winners from the high school department include 3rd placers in the Graphical user Environment Programming Using Visual Basic, namely Jessmar Viola, Glenn Cedillo and Elvan Job Mejias; and National finalist in the IT on-the-spot Essay Writing Ray Andi Marcel Ignacio.

The other six-graders who made it to the national competition include Anya Kalilah Molina and Ken Earl Coronel.

With the theme "Green Computing for a safe and healthy living” for this year’s competition, Pajita aims among others to develop among the students a healthy attitude and leadership qualities that can lead to a more positive use of technology.
