Anflocor sends relief mission to Oro, Iligan

THE Anflocor Group of Companies mobilized a relief operation last January 13, 2011 to assist the families who were affected by the flash flood wrought by Tropical Storm Sendong that hit Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.

"We sent a medical team to conduct free consultation as we thought that this is much needed to check the health condition of the families to stop further devastation due to sickness and illnesses," Anflocor, senior vice president and chief operating officer Ricardo R. Floirendo, said.

He said the company also conducted dental services and distributed free medicines to 287 individuals who availed the medical and dental services.

In addition, the families were also given a set of basic necessities like basins, dippers, pails, flashlights, and blankets.

Microtel Davao also sent 15 boxes of mineral water to these families who were temporarily stationed at Upper Balulang Elementary School, Barangay Lumban, Cagayan de Oro City.

"Despite the adverse effect of the typhoon, we saw that the affected families were ready to move on and that also moved us to help them stand up and start over," stressed Floirendo Foundation programs director Russell U. Barizzo.

The Floirendo Foundation tapped the support of medical and dental specialists, namely Dr. Claire Miyake and Dr. Andree Guada Jumanguin, for the success of the mission.

Likewise, Anflocor employees donated used clothes and other essential stuffs to help provide relief and rehabilitation to Sendong victims.

A financial assistance worth P39,050 was also given as the employees of Davao Agricultural Ventures Corporation (Davco), Pearl Farm Beach Resort (PFBR), Damosa Land, Inc. (DLI), Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (Tadeco), pooled their cash contributions and coursed the donation through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Cagayan de Oro.

"We look forward that the families affected by typhoon Sendong could easily move ahead with the help and assistance extended to them by the government, private groups and companies, and other concerned citizens," Floirendo said.

The relief drive was successfully accomplished with the effort extended by Brokenshire Foundation and Cagayan de Oro Air Force.
