THE who's who of Davao mingled with the members of the media and other VIPs as SM Lanang Premier opened its doors to the community a day before its official public opening on September 28.

After the mass and ribbon cutting, officials and special guests led by SM Prime Holdings president Hans Sy and Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and other SM VIPs went the rounds of what is touted to be Mindanao's biggest mall.

Guests were ushered in to registration tables to be given identification cards and stickers as guests. Gift cards, certificates and items were given to those with invitations to stores like Forever 21, Mountain Hardwear, Watsons, and other stores. There was also a free screening in IMAX.

Forever 21 launched its own fashion show before the store opening, while SMX opened its huge area for conventions, trade fairs and exhibits.

This opening celebration lasted for four days, and provided Dabawenyos something to look forward to in shopping, hanging out and bonding with family and friends.

This included celebrity sightings as well, of which there were plenty (take note, young and old matrons went gaga over the dashing and ageless Gabby Concepcion, and that's just on the first day).

We thank the SM establishments for launching another fun and wonderful landmark in Davao.

SMJ Lanang Premier is the 46th shopping center in the country. It is the fourth SM mall in Mindanao and the second in Davao City. It is touted as SM Prime's biggest and first-of-its-kind premier mall development project in Mindanao.

As a premier mall, the 5th of its kind in the country, SM Lanang boasts of "modern structure and cutting edge design upscale retail mix, dining concepts and world class entertainment and convention facilities." It also expected to boost the city's bid to become a major MICE (meeting, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination in the country. The mall houses the SMX Convention Center, the biggest of its kind in Mindanao and located on the third floor of the mall, that can accommodate more than 5,000 people.
The four-storey mall offers a world of shopping convenience with its main anchors, the SM store and SM Supermarket, as well as SM mainstays, including SM Appliance Center, Watsons, ACE Hardware, Our Home, and Kultura.
