IT WAS a lively evening for Matina Swiss Deli and Restaurant and its customers last October 10 as the restaurant kicked off its five-day celebration of Octoberfest.
Since the cafe opened only December of last year, this was marks the first time Matina Swiss Deli and Restaurant celebrated Octoberfest, the old German festival of beers being held annually.
Naturally, beers flowed and sausages filled the plates as customers, mostly Germans flocked to the resto to take part in the festivity which started in the morning and lasted throughout the night.
Matina Swiss Deli and Restaurant manager Leah Gabucan swears that German customers came in droves and celebrated with them during the day.
For the celebration, Matina Swiss Deli and Restaurant prepared a special Octoberfest menu for their clients at reasonable prices.
And while the customers were enjoying their meals and drinking beer and wine, musician Rolf Henkel kept them entertained with his accordion.
Gabucan also invited several journalists for the festivity and they savored some of the German specialties, including the Schwein's Haxe made up of pork knuckle with sauerkraut and potato.
The Octoberfest Platter of blood and liver sausage, smoked and grilled sausage, smoked pork loin and pork knuckle on sauerkraut was also served.
The Octoberfest ended last Sunday, but customers can always have great dining experience every time they visit the place along Mc Arthur Highway.
Next up for the resto is a wine tasting scheduled next month.
