Tujan: A wedding to remember

OSTENSIBLY, this is a story of unrequited love at least temporarily. In 2005, Michael L. Laganson (Mike) falls in love (at first sight) with Dianne Catherine G. Madrazo,CPA (only daughter of Atty. Oswaldo A. Madrazo Jr. and Teresita G. Madrazo) after he sees her in a wedding of a common friend.

Cheesy, but Mike (son of Mr. Rufino and Monina Laganson) knew right away that Yan was the one he wanted to marry and spend his life with. But for Yan, it was nothing. From text mates and chat mates they become the best of friends.

Both were busy pursuing each other’s dream careers that they lost touch a year after. In 2009, they connected with each other, thanks to Facebook. And it didn’t take a long time for Dianne to realize that Michael was the one for her.

They maintain their love for each other in spite of the distance when Dianne was assigned to work in Manila. Their love story is a living proof that long-distance relationships can work – in fact they can thrive!

Fast forward to Dec 12, 2012, Michael and Dianne made it official, after two long years of engagement and a surprise wedding proposal at the Davao International Airport.

On a rainy afternoon of 12.12.12, the Laganzon-Madrazo wedding was a perfect Christmas wedding. Michael and Dianne said 'I do' in front of 160 of their friends and family at a stylish ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, then celebrated into the night with an elegant evening reception at Eden Nature Park.

Guests were seated at round tables dressed in white linen, with a hint of gold added to the chairs. The couple chose elegant mirror stand decorated with flowers as their centerpieces and added a personal touch to the tables with red place cards for each guest. Small red heart-shaped baskets tied with a gold ribbon were set at each place as a gift from the Bride and Groom.

Thanks to the coordinators, Ms. Katrine Sarmiento of (Noel Tanza's Golden Touch) and her team, because of their prompt, friendly and professional service, there was no more worries, just big smiles during the wedding.

Guests enjoyed Champagne and canapés while the sibling wedding ace performers "The Asidors" known for their high energy performances, brings a fresh sound to the delight of the guests.

Michael and Dianne wanted the wedding to reflect their personalities and their relationship together, a perfect balance of old-fashioned romance and spontaneous let your hair down fun. The father and daughter dance moves everyone to tears as the song "Butterfly Kisses” echoed the reception area. Hosting their wedding was a privilege. The mood was simply heavenly from the choice of music to the program itself. A wedding, which I thought would consume all our energy, but rather became an affair which was enjoyed to the last bit.

As to how Michael and Dianne came to be seated together in 2005, I’ll never know. But I suspect that the “table-assignment fairy” had taken note and placed them together, to sit beside each other, forever.
