Tretorn's Nylite project lands in Davao-A A +A
Sunday, September 22, 2013
TRETORN in all its Swedish goodness challenged 46 artsy Dabawenyos to create masterpieces from a pair of classic Tretorn Nylite canvass shoes.
Using the Nylites as literally their canvass, the 46 participants painted their unique designs and poured out their creativity on them.
Most of the participants were college students of Ateneo de Davao University. Thanks to the generous assistance of Red Republic Productions led by Kristine Tanduyan and Aidx Paredes.
This happened on July 28, 2013 in Costa Marina as one of the main feat in Ateneo’s Volleytenista -- a beach volleyball event.
Simultaneous to the beach volleyball event, Nylite Project participants doused, painted, glued, drew and did their thing on their Tretorn pairs.
Among the 46 wonderful creations, three were critically-picked by Paul Joey Chua (brand manager of Tretorn Philippines) and Mae Sanchez (marketing officer-Primer Group of Companies).
These were the designs of Bernard Pedres, Joshua Medroso and John Robin dela Serna.
Pedres, a marketing executive, grabbed the first place with his crystal-studded, detailed Koi creation. Carefully etching the design using pencil, Pedres used watercolor to give life to his purplish Koi on his Tretorn Nylites. He finished up the design by sticking crystal studs.
Pedres said painting shoes has always been his passion. And yes, it did pay off.
Medroso, a third-year Mass Communication student of ADDU placed second with this contemporary Man of Steel artwork. Armed with watercolor and paintbrush, he painted what came to his mind--- Superman, flowers, leaves, vines, butterfly and everything nice.
Coming in third is dela Serna, a third year HRM student of University of Mindanao (UM). Dela Serna conceptualized a bluish Koi with yellow gills and this he indeed brought to life on his Tretorn Nylites. A design that stood out with its intricate details etched with black watercolor.
Criteria for judging is as follows: Creativity – 60 percent; Material – 20 percent; Facebook likes – 10 percent.

Tretorn would like to thank all the participants who have put a very excellent job in designing their Tretorn Nylites.
