Children's Hour joins relief efforts in Zambo-A A +A
Wednesday, October 16, 2013
RECOGNIZING the need to extend immediate assistance to the displaced children and families in Zamboanga, Children's Hour, through its Davao Steering Committee, signed last September 30 a Memorandum of Understanding with the Philippine Women's College (PWC) of Davao for the shipment of relief goods to the conflict-stricken area.
PWC recently launched a campaign to collect donations from students, personnel, parents, alumni and friends of the school in order to inculcate the values of caring for others and sharing of blessings.
Children's Hour, on the other hand, has commissioned the help of the Civil Relations Service Group of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ship the donations from Davao City to selected partner organizations in Zamboanga within the month.
Another PWC partner, Brahma Kumaris World Spirituality University Phils. Foundation, will monitor the distribution of the relief goods to the intended beneficiaries.
Children's Hour has funded and supported about 50 projects all over Mindanao and intends to expand the work carried out in the region through its Davao Steering Committee.
On November 12, 2013, it will push through with its fund-raising event, "Cocktails for a Cause," at the Abreeza Mall Activity Center, with special guest performer Ms Mitch Valdes.
