POWER Mac Center, one of the most popular Apple Premium Resellers in Davao, finally took its app arcade tournament, Arcadium, to Davao last December 13-15.
Now on its third year, Power Mac Center’s Marketing Officer, Ma. Zyra C. Tinio, said they decided to bring the event to Davao because “(Arcadium) was very successful in Manila and we wanted it to be bigger.” She also added that they feel that they have a very young market in Davao.
Aside from the competition, Tinio also shared that part of the goal of
Arcadium is showing the use of Apple products for gaming and the latest games in the iTunes App Store.
The games were played over the course of the three days, with one day each for awarding the winners for each particular game.
December 13 saw the top scorers for Despicable Me: Minion Rush, which Tinio said is a game made primarily for kids.
On December 14, they awarded the best at playing Ducati Challenge, which displayed the integration between the Apple TV and iPad Mini, where the Apple TV served as a display and the iPad Mini as a controller.
Those with the best scores on Shadowgun: Deadzone were awarded on December 15. Tinio said that the game highlights the power of the iMac to handle games in the shooter genre, which is quite popular with Filipinos.
The event also featured a design competition with the theme, “Filipinos’ love for gaming in a digital canvass.”
Among the prizes for the event were Arcadium trophies, iPad Minis, noise cancelling headphones and gift certificates.
Tinio shared that “part of the Filipino pop culture is gaming, and Power Mac Center is catering to that.”
In a time where casual and mobile gaming are at par with core gaming, the future looks bright for the Power Mac Center and Arcadium.
