Nominations for Lunhaw Awards ongoing until February 15-A A +A

DABAWENYOS will have a few days left to nominate deserving individuals and organizations for the 2013-2014 Lunhaw Awards.
Now in its 2nd year, this annual citywide search for green initiatives recognizes green practitioners who use innovative and sustainable ways of living which protect and nurture the environment.
Nominations for the awards will close on February 15, 2014. This can be submitted in five categories covering Organic Agriculture, Waste Management or Pollution Control, Forest-based Initiatives, Energy Conservation or Renewable Energy and Education/Advocacy categories.
"Currently, we have already received 20 entries and shall select top 15 entries who will vie for the Final Judging, likewise we also hope to receive more non-Organic Agriculture related green initiatives as the last year's batch of winners were dominated by the Organic Agriculture category," said Idis executive director Mary Ann Fuertes and co-convenor of the Lunhaw Awards.
The screening of entries is likewise scheduled on February 20, 2104. Members of the screening committee, also the main organizers of Lunhaw are representatives coming from the City Agriculturist Office, City Environment and Natural Resources, Davao Association of Catholic Schools Inc., Davao City Water District and Interface Development Interventions Inc. (Idis).
Inspiring others to engage with these green initiatives, previous year's awardees will also witness the 2013 Lunhaw Awarding ceremony during the Araw ng Dabaw celebration on March 16, 2014.
Winners will receive a Lunhaw Award Trophy, a bag of organic goodies and a cash prize.
