INVIlicious: Cute, sweet and yummy-A A +A
Friday, February 21, 2014
COUPLES Roanne Sheen Hidalgo-Suelto, or fondly called "Chin-Chin," and husband Leo were as sweet as chocolates and cakes on February 14, with the opening of their first pastry shop that fell on the same day they celebrated Heart's Day.
The two could claim that their business named INVIlicious was the best gift the couple received to which they can devote much of their time growing it with so much love.
While the store's first day in the mainstream market got them so busy, it came to pass that the Roanne and Leo were unlike many couples who were out for a dinner date on the Valentine's Day.
For Roanne, the INVIlicious is a realization of her chilhood dream to put up her own shop, which she has dedicated to her mom from whom she got her first training in baking.
"It's my hobby since kid pa, 5 years old pa lang ako nagbe-bake na. My mother trained me, she's my biggest inspiration who taught me at an early age." she said.
Even before, Roanne has been in the cake trade, supplying her relatives and friends with delectable pastries should they come to seek her expertise; something that she has mastered by experience.
In fact, when her acumen in baking gained popularity among close friends, it gave her and husband Leo the idea of putting up INVIlicious, but joining bazaars at the Davao Convention Center and SM Ecoland pinned it down.
"First time na sumali ako ng bazaar, 1 hour pa lang tapos 20 dozens of cupcakes ubos agad. That time nag-open din ako ng bazaar sa SM Ecoland for 1 month," she said.
INVIlicious is most famous for red velvet, chocolate moist, cupcake, and fondant cake, all baked with passion and love.
She boasted of high quality ingredients used to bake her products.
"Some of them I get from US and New Zealand while some I get locally," she said. Proof of the low quality fondant cake is its bitter taste, she said, while those that use high quality ingredients are like candies in sweetness sans the bitterness.
Although, she assured that customers are getting more of their money's worth, claiming that prices of her products are among the most competitive, if not the cheapest in town.
"I don't compromise sa quality ng ingredients. That I can assure. I personally do the baking and hands on sa decorations and everything. Most fondant you cannot eat kasi mapait siya. But our fondant is like candy," she said.
INVIlicious also does cone and cake pops for different occasions, ranging from kiddie parties, to weddings. Its pops come with personal touch, one thing that sets it apart from burgeoning others.
If others make pop's coating with fondant, hers is different as she mixes it with premium chocolate to prevent the cake and ice cream in it from falling apart, plus with a double coating to keep it intact and for that yummy and glossy look.
"The cone pop won't melt for as long as good quality ang gina-gamit na chocolate. May iba na they put a little chocolate and more oil," she said.
Telecommunications engineer by profession, she took a major shift in her career path. After all, what Roanne wants is to be where her heart is.
INVIlicious is located on V. Mapa St., Davao City.
