EVERY P100 counts for the Providence Home of Saint Joseph Davao Inc.

The Providence Home of Saint Joseph, also known as Home, is set to launch an "eat pizza" for-a-cause event at the Sorelle Missionariedell'Amore di Cristo (Smac) Sisters Convent at Habana Compound in Tugbok in Davao City on March 15, 2014 at 3 p.m.

Dubbed as Your Hundred Is Our Home,” Eat Pizza For-A-Cause program in-charge Sr. Luz C. Pepito said the Home aims to raise around P4 million for the renovation of the orphanage where 30 children take shelter. Of them, 19 are girls and 11 are boys.

Pepito said the proceeds of the occasion will be particularly used for the construction of the second floor of the orphanage, as the Home considers giving comfortable home for the abandoned children.

Aside from second floor, the orphanage is planning to add four more rooms, kitchen and dining tables, laboratory, and library for the benefit of the children.

The Home was established in January 2008 by the Smac Sisters Community because of the dire need of setting a home for the marginalized and orphaned children. The congregation was listed in the Diocese of San Severino Marche and Macerata in Italy.

When the Smac was registered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) here in the Philippines as a Child Caring Institution, Madre Nanda Giamberardini, Smac Mother Foundress of the Community had envisioned a better service delivery for children by re-aligning its program.

Aside from its programs, the congregation also vowed to strengthen its services to prepare the center as an independent institution, thus the establishment of the Home, witnessing the living condition of poor parishioners who lack access to food and hygiene; the out-of-school children; and children exposed to violence.

If you ever find within yourself the spirit of charity and wanting something B-I-G to fill not only your stomachs but as well as your souls, surely, the four slices of pizza with different flavors for as low as P100 could feed many mouths.

This may not be the most practical move, but there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the happy and smiling faces of those children in the orphanage. This is already worthier than all the money in this world.
