Addressing environmental woes-A A +A

WHILE most manufacturers fight as to who has the most energy-efficient airconditioners is, Daikin Airconditioning Philippines claims it has not only most energy-efficient but also most environment-friendly products.
During the two-day launch at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City on February 27 to 28, 2014, three new additions to Daikin's product line-ups were unveiled, replacing their predecessors.
They are Urusara, R32, and the flagship fourth generation Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) IV, which will hit the Philippine market in the next few months.
Urusara, a residential type of air conditioner which utilizes R32 refrigerant, functions as airconditioner, air purifier, and dehumidier all at once.
This product is also equipped with a smart technology called as "area intelligent eye," which serves as a motion sensor that detects three zones divided in the whole room.
In simpler term, it automatically redirects its fan to another direction so that the airflow will not directly hit a person when switched on "comfort" setting.
However, users can also opt to activate the "focus" setting should they want to directly expose themselves to the cold airflow.
"Users can choose the airflow they like. For example, users want to expose themselves to the cool airflow when they've come home in summer," the briefer said.
With more than 50 years of experience in the industry, Daikin is an expert when it comes to product innovations. Proof to that is the R32, replacing predecessor R-410A, which exemplifies the expertise the company has attained across several decades.
"Daikin aims to develop systems that have a lower environmental impact. Refrigerant choice is a key factor in the drive to maximize energy efficiency and to minimize the global warming impact of systems," it added.
Having originated in Japan, Daikin has already set firm footing there where it has switched all residential units into R32, its more ozone-friendly product that mitigates the impact of global warming and at the same time the depletion of the ozone layer.
And lastly, the VRV IV. Daikin has been in the business of making VRVs for 30 years, which makes it hard for other VRV-producing companies to dislodge the number one spot it is enjoying globally.
The first VRV was introduced in Japan back in 1982. VRV IV boasts of enhanced energy saving feature.
It added that VRV IV now features Variable Refrigerant Temperature (VRT) technology, which automatically adjusts refrigerant temperature to individual building and climate requirement, thus further improving annual energy efficiency and maintaining comfort. With this excellent technology, running costs are reduced.
Daikin is eyeing to sell over a thousand units of VRV IV this year nationwide.
Also, its growing portfolio has proven the company's quality products. In the Philippines, among the companies Daikin served are Canon Manufacturing facility in Batangas, recording over 300 outdoor units sold; SM corporate offices; food processing in Pampanga, specifically that of Pampanga's best; and Golden ABC corporate center.
In Davao City, many of the call center facilities and corporate offices are now carrying the VRV III technology, including the Tebow Cure Hospital.
Meanwhile, in General Santos City, there's Greenleaf Hotel that utilizes Daikin products.
