AS a way of giving back and answering to the call of Department of Education (DepEd) to the private firms battle malnutrition, Philippian Trading Center donated weighing scales in one of the public high schools in the city.
The Philippian Trading Center is a Davao-based company that distributes different kind of items and goods to the market.
Last July 31, officials of the company came to visit Sta. Ana National High School to hand over their donation.
"Bale gi-tsek una namo unsa to nga schools ang may pinakadaghan og population, and kining Sta. Ana one of the few schools nato nga ubay-ubay sab ang estudyante. Sa tan-aw namo, ang among ihatag will be a great help sa mga estudyante, and in line sab sa kampanya sa Deped," said Carla Barbara Echavia, chief Communications Officer of the company.
Recently, DepEd called on private firms to help the government fight malnutrition among Filipino school children by donating weighing scales.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro said that public schools need weighing scales in conducting nutritional assessment of their students.
Luistro said only 3,747 out of 38,659 elementary schools in the country had access to weighing scales in 2010.
"It is our simple gesture of giving back sa unsa mang among naangkon as a company. It is a simple token, but nanghinaut mi nga layo ni og maabtan. Dako ni og tabang sa mga estudyante, sa kampanya sa Sta. Ana to fight malnutrition," Jelyn Ann L. Cortes, General Manager of Philippian Trading Center added.
"Bale dugangan namo og duha kay we've learned nga tulo diay kabuok ang ilang clinics, so ihatud na lang namo ang laing duha sunod, para gyud magamit nila," Winn A. Htun, Sales and Marketing Manager added.
